| The largest market for agricultural products and technologies in the Middle East |
The Kingdom’s agriculture industry continues to grow at 8% a year, driven by the massive population growth and the increasing demand for food and food-related products. This makes it the Middle East’s largest market for agricultural products and technologies. Saudi Arabia has implemented important initiatives to develop the agricultural sector, recognizing its vital role in the drive to become less dependent on imports and meeting the growing populations needs. A large portion of the budget has been set aside to increase agricultural productivity, develop new farming areas, improve quality and marketability, and for vital water conservation projects. |

| Meet top industry buyers at the
heart of this dynamic market |
Saudi Agriculture 2008 is now in its 27th year, and is the largest agriculture exhibition in the Middle East. Riyadh is at the center of this dynamic industry, serving the largest agriculture market, the Qassim region. Every year, this even attracts the most important decision makers from industry, business and government. It is the largest gathering of industry professionals and an ideal forum to launch new products and services, make new contacts and expand existing ones. |

| Top 10 consumers of poultry now focus on local production |
The Kingdom ranks amongst the top 10 countries worldwide for poultry consumption. Since mostly poultry is imported, the focus is now on expanding local production, which in turn, has increased the need for imported feed. Poultry production, feeds and additives and processing and packing equipment are in widespread demand. |
| |
| Widespread demand for farming products, machinery |
Domestic production of beef and veal increased by over 50% in the last few years. The Kingdom now produces over 42,000 tons annually, while 23,000 sheep are consumed daily. Over half a million tons of milk a year is produced, although most cheeses are still imported. Livestock and dairy farming products and technologies are increasingly being sought after. |
| |
| Construction boom drives industry for landscaping, green areas |
The multi-billion dollar construction boom underway offers multiple opportunities for suppliers of landscape gardening expertise, tools and equipment. Housing compounds, schools, hospitals, parks, palaces and government buildings all are now being designed with green space and landscaping and as projects near completion, so will the demand for the latest techniques, technologies and products. |
| |
| Protecting and managing water:
a vital necessity |
The rising population and the harsh climate for crop cultivation means that management and protection of the Kingdom’s precious resource, water, is vital to sustain further growth and development. The increasing load on the water supplies has led to major initiatives by the government for recycling and conservation. The latest processing, conservation and management technologies will be required. |
