Since 2016, Saudi Arabia has pursued economic reforms that reduce dependence on oil as a major economic activity and have developed strategies to diversify non-oil sources of income into Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision. These reforms have raised the expected economic growth rate from 1.8% in 2019 to 2.1% .

On the development of tourism resources, the Commission seeks to complete its mission of transforming tourism into an economic sector that contributes to the gross national product and support the national economy.

A report presented at the World Economic Forum revealed that Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry spends $ 76 billion, of which in-bound tourists spent $ 48 billion, while domestic tourists spent $ 28 billion The total number of trips out of the Kingdom 2018 reached 9.4 million, representing a growth of 7.4% compared to 2017, with expenditures exceeding $ 8.1 billion (SR 30.5 billion)
